The leaders in pitching runs created coming into today
AL:
1. Johan Santana – 77.7
2. Roy Halladay – 76.9
3. Mark Buehrle – 72.8
4. Randy Johnson – 64.5
5. Bartolo Colon – 62.8
6. John Lackey – 62.6
7. Matt Clement – 58.7
8. Jeremy Bonderman – 55.9
9. Freddy Garcia – 55.9
10. Dan Haren – 55.6
Looks like the Cy Young (at least according to PRC) will come down to Santana and Buehrle. Bonderman and Haren are definite future stars.
NL:
1. Pedro Martinez – 84.8
2. Chris Carpenter – 78.3
3. Roger Clemens – 75.4
4. Jake Peavy – 74.4
5. Dontrelle Willis – 74.2
6. Roy Oswalt – 73.1
7. John Smoltz – 70.5
8. Javier Vazquez – 68.1
9. A.J. Burnett – 65.0
10. Aaron Harang – 65.0
What’s sad is that the top-two pitchers in the National League aren’t going to win the Cy Young. Also, it’s unfortunate that Smoltz’s great season has been lost among the Clemens hype. Also, that Harang is pitching for the Reds, so no one even knows his name. Really, there’s a lot of things about the National League that piss me off. Maybe we should go back to the way things were when people were fans of one league or the other…
